Google My Business: Is it Right for Your Small Business?

Pop quiz!

  • Do customers need directions to your business?

  • Do you have a menu/price list you could make available to potential customers?

  • Do customers call to ask what your business hours are?

  • Do you want more reviews to show how awesome your business is?

Did you answer yes to any (or all) of these questions? Then your business needs a Google My Business (GMB) page. According to a study in 2020, 68% of consumers will stop using a local business if there is inaccurate information online.

Quick Tips to Get You Started with a Google My Business Page

Own your location.

Literally, Google your business. Someone (a past customer) may have entered information about your business without you knowing. You want to own this information! Using a Google account, you can take ownership of your business information.

Fill up the details.

Leave nothing to be desired. Give Google all of it: business hours, menu/price list, description of your product(s), images of your location, online ordering. Why? People like correct information - they don’t want to guess, especially if you have a common business name…like a House of Pizza or General Store. If any of your information changes frequently, you’ll want someone to be on top of those changes. Make sure your website link is always up to date.

Ask for reviews.

There is no shame in the game. Ask for a review from your happy customers and send them to your Google page to do it. Since the pandemic everyone and their great-grandma know how to use a QR code - have one on your counter so customers can scan it quickly and do a review right there!

Ask for help.

I know - if you aren’t used to this level of technology and terminology (google account, GMB, online ordering, QR code) it’s very overwhelming to start. That’s why I’m here.  I want your small business to have a GMB page to get more customers and grow your business.
